As the Coronavirus crisis continues to evolve many people are working from home or losing their jobs and those who work in SEO are losing clients and watching search volume circle the drain. In the travel industry, it is especially difficult especially if months of hard work has brought stellar results and high client satisfaction.
However, this is not the time to give up. Although this situation could go on for several months as people continue "social distancing", sooner or later they will emerge and want to travel, be entertained and socialize - maybe more than ever!
There are two strategies that are appropriate for this type of situation:
1) Preserve your brand and even further define it by showing your customers how much your business really cares. Your blogs should not be tone deaf but address the crisis in an uplifting and realistic way - yes you should still blog! Safety, health and well-being should be incorporated into your content. Be more present than ever for your customers by informing them of your policies, being flexible and answering all inquiries as quickly as you can. Don't advertise or promote what you cannot deliver right now. You must prepare for the return to normalcy that is down the road and let customers know they can rely on your business to be responsive and reliable in good times and bad.
2) You may wish to suspend online paid advertising at this time. However, do not stop your SEO efforts even if you must downscale them. SEO takes months to achieve and these gains need to be preserved. Continue to keep your website "fresh" and work on improving the overall quality of it to keep its organic visibility as high as possible. That way it will be ready when this is over and search volume returns...and it will.
